You may be wondering what the difference between a Lifestyle Newborn session and a Fresh 48 are. Well, I'll give you some details on what makes a Fresh 48 so special. I provide Newborn Sessions with the cute little wraps, bonnets, bows, hats, and props as well as Lifestyle Newborn packages. Both are done in the comfort of the clients home and I absolutely adore getting to do these! While those are absolutely gorgeous, Fresh 48's can be even more sentimental. When I had my son, I didn't capture any photos of my own! I was stuck in the fog of being a new mom, and could hardly focus on how to feed my newborn baby properly, let alone taking photos! In fact, the only photographs taken of me were of my popsicle stained teeth and lips thanks to my blood sugar dropping into the 50s most of labor. I wish I had been able to have a photographer come to my room and capture some of those beautiful moments that I didn't have the energy to create. These types of sessions are so special, because I will come to your hospital room (or to your home if you had a home birth) and capture those precious moments for you. These are typically done within 24-48 hours after the birth of your new baby. All you have to do is just do what you're already doing! Be in the moment with your brand new child, and I will capture it all in a way that you can look back and feel like you're reliving the new-ness of those first couple of days again.

You want to capture those fresh moments
A Lifestyle newborn session, or Standard Newborn session is typically done when your baby is around 2 weeks. With this Fresh 48 session, you will have the opportunity to capture those little details and features when your baby is just born. These little ones features change SO fast in just the first couple of days!

You love candid, unposed photographs
If you're into more of the lifestyle/documentary style and enjoy candid photographs, then this is the perfect session style for you! I will be on the sideline, capturing your new family dynamic. I will of course give some posing prompt suggestions, but will mainly be photographing you and your family unposed.

The best timeframe for a Fresh 48 session will be in the morning to early afternoon. So mainly between the hours of 9am-3:30. The reason for this is that hospital lighting... well, it sucks! It casts terrible fluorescent light and creates unflattering shadows and colors on your skin. Natural lighting is best in a hospital setting! All of these photos form this session were captured in front of hospital window.

Book In Advance
Although we can't possibly know when baby is going to make their appearance, we can schedule you for your due date. I will essentially be on call until I hear word that baby is on the way! Because of the unknowing, it's important to get your session booked in advance if possible, so that I can make sure to get you on my schedule and to be on call waiting for the news and schedule around it accordingly.
Plan out your outfits
It's definitely not necessary to plan an entire outfit scheme for your family, but if you did want to, try to plan on wearing something that you feel comfortable and pretty in. There are so many beautiful robes, or pajama sets that would be perfect for this type of session. Or, if you're like me, you might even just want leggings and an oversized t-shirt. Again, whatever you feel best in! You also might want a "going home" outfit for baby to be photographed in, or a cute swaddle wrap and beanie set!
Contact me
Keep me in the loop and let me know when you are heading to the hospital. This way I have time to get things adjusted in my personal life to meet you at the hospital 24-48 hours after your new addition is born. Then contact me once again when your baby is officially born. (Whenever you have a moment, of course).
